Consumer Attitude and Behaviour Towards "Flandria" Quality Labelled Tomatoes AgEcon

In recent years, trust in food safety and food quality has decreased as a result of consecutive food crises. Consequently, numerous quality labels signalling credence characteristics have been established. One of these labels is the Belgian Flandria label for fresh fruit and vegetables. Based on a self-administered consumer survey (n=373), this paper addresses questions about consumer attitudes, behaviour and perception towards tomatoes in general, and the Flandria tomato label in particular. Principal component analysis and consumer segmentation are performed. Consumer Behaviour towards Own Label: monitoring the Greek experience AgEcon

In Greece, the traditional perceptions of private label were once of low quality, unbranded alternatives, attracting the most cost-conscious consumers. In today’s private label market, however, a different level of products has emerged – the premium “branded” private label product. Based on a consumer survey conducted in Greece, the current study discusses consumer’s attitude and satisfaction with respect to private label products. Frequency of purchase and consumer characteristics are also discussed in light of empirical evidence.

Food Innovation and Market Risk: A Case Study of the Interface Consumer Food Industry AgEcon

Western society is suffering an increasing risk regarding the food chain for several reasons. Longer geographical distances between producers and consumers, more stakeholders in the supply chain, less capacity of national governments to regulate and protect consumers due to globalisation and the liberalization process, with pressure to innovate and increase competitively.. During the period 2004-06, there is being carried out a research project in Spain, coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Madrid and sponsored by INIA. The goal is to understand the consumer behaviour identifying the attributes of food products and to transmit the results to the food industry entrepreneurs, in order to increase their efficiency in innovation.
